CIC – a glimpse

Some of the contributions of CIC in our district  are as follows,

1. Project ASHA ASFAC ( Assam Small Farmers� Agri business Consortium ) has implemented ASHA project in CIC in technical support from NIC Assam  State Unit for the larger benefit of the rural small farmers using ICT. A dynamic portal has been developed  viz.  http://www.assamagribusiness.nic.in and membership has been driven in rural area in category wise @ Rs 100/- ( silver) , @ Rs 250/- ( Gold) @Rs 500/- ( diamond) depending on facilities offered  viz.  Category A  Silver Rs 100/ – per  year (10 Nos of free phone call enquiry per month, 10 hrs per month free internet browsing, one week free internet  course  etc.) The services and facilities will be improved category wise.  The current membership in the following CICs of the districts as viz.

The ASHA project implemented for the larger benefit of rural cultivators through ICT have been running successfully, The progress report  till December� 2005  are  as follows,

2. Computer Training                     The various courses offered in the CICs are 3 months, 6 months Diploma, 1 year PG Diploma,  3 months DTP course in Assamese, 3 months Web designing, digital photography ( CIC Lakhimpur) , screen printing ( CIC Ghilamara) . The statistics is as follows,

3.  Self Help Group In a major step to become self employed in the job starved district, steps have been taken to create  self employed in IT sector. Self Help Groups are formed with students of CICs and advanced level training are given in digital photography, photo editing, screen printing, video recording & editing etc.  A few of the SHG viz. Priya SHG, DIANA SHG are getting appreciation from all section including media, DC, local MP etc. and doing well. Members of Priya SHG got the data entry contract of Land records computerization and performing exceedingly well

Description of one SHG

PRIYA  SHG             Most of the members of Priya SHG are from the first batch students of a CIC  Lakhimpur districts ( in the year 2003) . They studied 3/6  3 months Diploma in ICT in various subjects i.e. Word, excel, database, internet, email, yahoo messaging , DTP in Assamese & Hindi  . They got the contract of data entry works on land record computerization project and completed the first phase in the year dec 2005 with their members. They have been trained in DTP, digital photography, video recording & editing and many other areas viz. agriculture, mushroom, vermi compost, medicinal plants, etc. Now they have become indispensable part of the district Administration. They have volunteered this year Independence day celebration. They participated in excursion to Tawang Aruncahal pradesh with CIC. They participated the seminar at Nagaon on ' How NRI can be useful to CIC' with all CICs of Lakhimpur & Nagon district. They participated CIC stall in the Agriculture Trade fair at Ghy.. They have been working as  technical assistant in the Computer training under the District Technology & training Centre at the top floor of the DC office. They worked as the DEOs of election 2004. Now they are preparing  for Village Knowledge Centre/ Common Service  Centre  Two members of the Priya i.e. President & Secretary have been nominated for the Jamsetji Tata National Virtual Academy for Rural  Prosperity (NVA). They have submitted one project for Micro credit scheme under ICICI involving CIC infrastructure. Recently they got some contract to print question papers for High schools in Assamese, English & Hindi and earned revenue. Local newspaper have given coverage of the SHG on their empowerment through technology. Recently they have attended training on SQL server at NIC ASU training division ( 3 members).  Now this SHG should be one of the most prosperous & notable amongst all SHGs of Assam. They have been running two vermi-compost unit,  one mushroom production centre under the  RSVY project sponsored by Planning Commission, Govt of India.

 Kalpana  –                 They are launching an assamese magazine for children, women & youth shortly.

Sadhana SHG   –             Set up one Knowledge centre at Dhalpur dakua village

4. Block website      Almost CICs of Assam has their own website developed by respective CICs.  Links are available in district websites ( http://districts.nic.in). For example, the websites of Blocks under Lakhimpur district are  as follows,

5. Enrich project  Under  enrich project, all blocks of the NE have their own dynamic portals developed by CIC operators .  For example , in lakhimpur district the portals are as follows,

NGO constituted     :-  In a effort to create employment and to take participate in socoi-economy development in the region, steps have been taken to constitute  society viz. Community Development Forum in each CICs. Amongst all Community Development Society � Dhakuakhana under Dhakuakhana CIC registered themselves under societies Act  1860 and presently working as an emergent force in the flood affected Dhakuakhna area. They have procured computers and set up rural computer training centre. Govt has already allotted 20 bighas of land towards this society.

Rural prosperity through Knowledge enrichment            CIC has taken numerous step towards knowledge enrichment of rural people by organizing workshop, conference to rural people & women SHG in various other fields viz. agriculture, mushroom cultivation, organic farming etc.  Cultural meets have also been organized to develop in the cultural field.

Remarks                     It would be great if funding either in soft loan or donation to the rural SHG are received. We have submitted request to govt, political representatives to fund our CIC students but not yet succeed.
