MADURAI: Commissioners of the State Information Commission (SIC) reviewed the implementation of Right to Information Act (RIA) with the Collectors of Madurai, Dindigul and Theni districts here on Friday.

Briefing mediapersons, Chief Information Commissioner S. Ramakrishnan expressed satisfaction over the overall response to the RIA and its implementation. The official response to queries on information was also quick. So far, the SIC received 1,672 petitions and over 900 of them disposed of. The SIC forwarded 31 petitions to the Central Information Commission for eliciting information. He said public response to RIA was bound to grow. The Collectors, T. Udhayachandran (Madurai), R. Vasuki (Dindigul) and Rajesh Lakhoni (Theni) and G. Ramakrishnan and R. Rathnasamy, Information Commissioners, participated.
